Florida's wetlands are a verdant region, ready for exploration and discovery. With unique experiences that put you up close to the wildlife of the area, spectacular sites and sounds, areas to take in like Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River, and far more, you will not find a shortage of things to do during your Everglades travel. There are so many things, in fact, that any trip you could go on is going to miss something. To avoid missing too much, however, here are a few of the major sites to check out during your Everglades travel. One place to visit is the Anhinga Trail, a half-mile walk along a canal made long ago, perfect for those who want to get out into the fresh air, get some great sites, but who don't want to spend a lto of money or go too far out of the way. The Shark Valley trail is a bit more advanced, taking you out of the way and costing a bit more, but which has almost never left a traveler disappointed. The views are astonishing and the general consensus is that it's well worth the trip. Relaxing in areas like West Lake provides an alternative, with gorgeous views of mangrove trees and casual trails for those who aren't overly concerned with anything but relaxing. For those craving a bit of civilization, the Flamingo is a small tourist region with lodging, fine dining, shopping, tours, and access to outdoor adventures. A wide array of other sites, trails, museums, art galleries, fine dining and more are all a great part of Everglades travel, but for now, we'll leave you with this basic starter guide.
